b. exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others.

c. evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning.

d. contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community.

The following artifact is for a technology conference I will be attending on February 3rd and 4th.

I will be attending the following classes and will report to my colleagues during a staff meeting sharing important information I learned.

I also have started subscribing to some educational technology feeds. This has opened up a whole new world of free tools to use in the classroom such as Prezi, Animoto and Moodle.

In addition, I am actively involved in an online learning site called I ♥ Faces. This site has weekly contests, fix-its, tutorials and many other great resources for photographers.

I am one of twelve contributors to the site. My involvement includes making tutorials both written and through video(or a combination of both). I also participate in the contests. Each week, the contributors are given a photo to "fix". We share the steps we took in enough detail that the participants could duplicate our steps if they desire.

As the stats below show, I ♥ Faces is a thriving community. Many people benefit from the tutorials, beautiful photography and advice shared on the site.

Below are some snapshots of the tutorials I have written.

I also maintain a blog. It started off solely being a family blog, but it has evolved into a mix of posts about family, photography and tutorials.

If I were to pick a standard that I feel the most proficient in, it would be this standard. I don’t approach continuous improvement in the same way as many educators. Most of my learning has been self-taught. I find that I learn better by getting into a program and just trying it out. After I teach myself “the ropes” of the program, I then find classes and collaboration with teachers to be helpful in expanding on what I have already learned.

For Indicator A, although my participation in I Heart Faces is not immediately school-related, it has helped me learn how to work with an adult learning community. By writing tutorials and expanding my skills in Photoshop through practice, I have been able to see how people react to my tutorials and fine-tune them to be more understandable. This is the same type of skill that is needed in the classroom.

Up until this year, I have been actively involved in the technology committee at my school. This is directly related to Indicator B. Being on the committee allowed me to express the technology needs of my school and influence future purchases and educational outlets for teachers. I also am considered a resource by many teachers when they need technology advice.

Subscribing to various educational feeds has started me on the path to evaluating and reflecting on current research and professional practice. I have discovered many free technology tools for education through these sites. Many have been very interesting and applicable to classroom use.

Overall, technology is indispensable in my everyday life. I have great interest in constantly learning. I enjoy experimenting with new technology and discovering ways to use it in the classroom. I love seeing students engaged and motivated to learn, and technology is definitely a factor in making this happen.
